I admit that in South Carolina when the forecast is for snow, no matter how much they “guarantee” that we’ll have it, I’ve lived here long enough to know it’s just one of those things that “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Hence, I didn’t get my kids new snow gear this winter. Because it just doesn’t happen that often, and usually when we get some wintry precipitation, it’s icy and nasty and not something you want to play in.
I should have gotten them something, because this morning we woke up to this:
So now it’s snowy and one son is wearing some random water-proof pants we found and the other one is wearing MY ski bib pants, so my booty will be cold and wet, but theirs will hopefully stay dry-ish.
I knew we were going to need something to all warm up this morning since I didn’t believe the forecast.
My mom always said that oatmeal is a good breakfast because it “sticks to your ribs” and since it seems mine will be exposed to more cold, I thought oatmeal might be just what we needed to start our snowy day.
I had frozen some of the blueberries we picked this summer and thought I’d toss a few into the oatmeal today. It was delish and I decided that the world needs the recipe. Especially since much of the country is presently blanketed in white.
ENJOY!
